Ken Block Drifts Under a Moving Plane in Gymkhana 8 (W/Video)

Ken Block has stepped up the theatrics once again for Gymkhana 8, where he takes an updated version of his Ford Fiesta ST RX43 rallycross car to Dubai. Here, Block drifts around a jumbo jet, taunts a Ford Raptor driving on two wheels, and shows a Bugatti who’s boss.

The incredible film takes place in some of the most prominent places around Dubai. The Sheik Zayed Road, the main highway in Dubai, was shut down for only the second time in history so the crew could film race scenes. (The first time was for President George W. Bush’s visit to the city in 2008). Along with receiving full access to a shutdown airport runway, Block also filmed in Burj Park, which is home to the world’s tallest building: the Burj Khalifa.

“I realize it sounds cliché to say it, but this is probably my favorite Gymkhana thus far,” said Block in a recent release. The video also features the entire Dubai Police Force’s Exotic Cars division, which provides an obstacle for Block to pass at one point in the video.

To accomplish all of the wild feats in the video, Block started with one truly capable car. The new Fiesta ST RX43 packs 650 hp, and according to the video, hits 60 mph in just 1.8 seconds. Still, we’d love to see Block’s 1978 Ford Escort Mk2 RS in a future Gymkhana video. Watch the latest installment in the Gymkhana series below. How do you think it compares to the others?
