Luxury cars were a big deal at the 2016 New York auto show. There wasn’t a category left un-added-to, from polarizing coupe-like SUVS to intriguing concepts previewing future models and refreshed versions of current luxury vehicles. In its quest to put an AMG badge on everything it sells, Mercedes-AMG revealed the 2017 GLC43, which comes armed with a new nine-speed automatic transmission and a 362-hp, 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 putting its power down to all four wheels. The car also comes with a sport-tuned air suspension to make sure you can carve winding roads with confidence.

The 2017 GLC43’s nine-speed automatic transmission comes with a Sail mode that helps make it more fuel-efficient. In Eco Mode, the car’s transmission and clutch are sometimes disengaged while engine speed is reduced to idle so that you can maximize efficiency when you’re driving.

2017 Acura MDX: Hybridized and De-Beaked

Now sporting Acura’s new corporate grille, the 2017 MDX crossover has been refreshed and updated to keep it class-competitive. Along with the new face is a hybrid variant featuring Acura’s SH-AWD system, a seven-speed twin-clutch transmission, and a 3.0-liter V-6 paired to an electric motor for a total output of 325 hp.

2017 Acura MDX: Sport Hybrid Is Expected to be the Most Fuel Efficient

While EPA fuel economy figures have not yet been released for the 2017 Acura MDX, the hybrid variant is expected to achieve 25/26 mpg city/highway, 7 mpg higher in the city compared to the gas-only MDX. This means that the MDX Sport Hybrid will offer the best of both worlds: more power and better fuel economy in one package. The non-hybrid 2017 MDX is shown in gray below.

A 2.0-liter direct-injected I-4 mated to an electric motor and an eight-speed automatic transmission powers the Genesis New York Concept. While no other powertrain details were announced, Genesis did reveal that the powertrain makes a total system output of 242 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.
