Ford is building 300 copies of the F-150 MVP Edition to celebrate the Kansas City Royals winning the 2015 World Series Championship. The special trucks, of course, are all produced at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant.
The 2016 Ford F-150 MVP Edition features a choice of blue or white exterior paint, mirroring the colors of the Kansas City Royals. The truck is based off the lower mid-range XLT model, and tacks on special MVP badging, unique polished stainless rocker panels, and a spray-in bedliner. Its custom bits are added at Kansas City’s unique SubTropolis facility, which is said to be the world’s largest underground business complex.
But it wasn’t Ford that originally dreamed up the truck. The idea actually came from a Kansas City Royals fan who wanted to celebrate his team’s second world championship. The team’s first win came back in 1985, when Ford brought out a special Ranger MVP edition to honor the occasion.
To plug the chromed-out truck, Ford has enlisted the help of former Royals player Bret Saberhagen from the 1985 roster and Salvador Perez from the 2015 star lineup. Midwest Ford dealers have partnered with the Royals in a sponsorship agreement, which has been renewed for 2016.
The F-150 MVP edition is now on sale at Kansas City area Ford dealers.
