Volkswagen Group announced that it will recall select Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg models for a potentially faulty component on the pedal mechanism.
The Problem: Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg models built between 2011 and 2016 may have a clip that can become dislodged from the pedal bracket. The issue was found during internal inspections, Porsche said in its statement today. As of yet, no accidents or injuries have been reported in relation to this issue.
The Fix: Volkswagen Group is issuing a voluntary recall as a precautionary measure. Local dealers will inspect all affected vehicles to ensure that the clip is secured. The automaker will reinstall the part if necessary.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: The recall of select 2011-2016 Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne SUV models will involve over 800,000 vehicles globally. Broken down, around 391,000 Touareg models will be affected. Roughly 409,477 Cayenne models will be involved, with 88,300 of those in the U.S. and 10,370 in Canada.
