During the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Bentley unveiled the completely bespoke Mulsanne Grand Limousine, which is 3 feet longer and 3 inches taller than the standard Mulsanne. The model was commissioned privately and showcases Bentley’s bespoke division’s capabilities.
Bentley’s Mulliner bespoke division specializes in custom exterior and interior colors and options, and with its long history, Bentley believed the division “could do more.” The Mulsanne Grand Limousine grows in length and height over the standard Mulsanne and features private aviation-style seating in the rear cabin. This model also features Bentley’s first application of “smart glass,” which allows passengers to change the rear-cabin window glass divider from clear to opaque at the touch of a button.
“The Mulsanne Grand Limousine showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of our in-house coachbuilder, Mulliner and exemplifies the way in which our experts consult with a customer to turn their vision into an extraordinary reality. The attention to detail, quality, creativity and skill applied to every Mulliner commission is truly unique in the automotive world,” said Wolfgang Durheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors, in a release.
When building the Mulsanne Grand Limousine, Mulliner paid more attention to the rear cabin, developing a new HVAC system and implementing iPad charging and docking stations, veneered fold-out tables, a bottle cooler with frosted glass and crystal flutes, and a soft drink cabinet with bespoke tumblers. The limo wouldn’t be complete without an intercom system to communicate with the driver.
The Mulliner Mulsanne Grand Limousine was finished in a two-tone Silver Frost and Moroccan Blue exterior color scheme, and the Flying “B” mascot has been engraved with the phrase, “Coachbuilt by Mulliner.” The stretched model sits on a re-engineered chassis and suspension, with a fully engineered powertrain, and sits on unique 21-inch wheels that have been color-matched to the exterior finish.
