Acura has released its Super Bowl supercar commercial ahead of the big game. The new video shows the all-new Acura NSX hybrid supercar set to Van Halen’s classic “Runnin’ with the Devil.” The Japanese automaker claims the new NSX is the only supercar made in the USA. The Viper and Corvette Z06 might have a beef with that.
“In our Acura commercial, we wanted to convey the excitement of the NSX to a big Super Bowl audience,” said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura, in a release. “The high energy visuals are complemented by a big rock anthem, giving viewers just a taste of the emotion this new Acura supercar elicits.”
In order to emphasize the NSX supercar’s “made in America” status, Acura prominently fills the background lighting of the video with vivid shades of red, white, and blue as the car’s silhouette is shown from multiple angles. Meanwhile, Van Halen’s “Runnin’ with the Devil” slowly builds up to the rocker’s signature hollers and screams. Visuals include raw materials, trick LED exterior lighting, and the start sequence of NSX’s twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine firing up. The commercial ends with the words “What He Said.”
Global production of the all-new Acura NSX hybrid supercar will begin this spring at Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio.
