As the most powerful production Audi model ever built, the 2017 Audi R8 will start at $164,150.
That price comes in higher than some key competitors, including the 2016 Nissan GT-R which starts at $103,365 and the new Porsche 911 Turbo priced from $160,250. The R8 goes on sale this spring.
Audi has given the new 2017 R8 more track DNA, which can be seen in the new silhouette emphasized by stronger shoulder lines and a flowing roofline that extends to the rear of the vehicle. The new model is half an inch shorter in height and length, but grows half an inch in width. Inside, the new Audi R8 features a driver-oriented cockpit with easy-to-use controls. The Audi Virtual Cockpit replaces the classic instrument panel with a high-resolution 12.3-inch display.
The 2017 Audi R8 benefits from shared parts with the R8 LMS racecar, making it more dynamic than the model it replaces, both on and off the track. Audi has revamped its Quattro all-wheel-drive system for the new model, and has also updated its seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. Audi quotes a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds with a top track speed of 199 mph, while the R8 V10 Plus will sprint from 0-60 in a quicker 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph. When we tested a Euro-spec V10 Plus model recently, however, we clocked it going to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds.
The 610-hp V10 Plus drops 77 pounds and features standard Audi carbon ceramic brakes, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, front lip spoiler, exterior mirror housings, and a fixed rear wing spoiler. For the first time here in the U.S., Audi will include racing shell seats on the V10 Plus. Pricing for the R8 V10 Plus will start at $191,150.
