Targeting the next generation of business owners, the Toyota U2 Urban Utility concept will make its global debut in February at the 2016 Canadian International Auto Show.
Pronounced U-Squared — not U2 like the band — the concept was built for “today’s creative class of mobile entrepreneurs and Makers.” It features retracting roof panels and a configurable utility rail system for added versatility. At this time, we don’t know much more about the concept or if Toyota has any plans for future production.
“Our North American design team left no stone unturned in masterfully creating a concept vehicle that truly embodies the spirit of today’s Maker culture from the inside out,” said Cyril Dimitris, vice president of sales for Toyota Canada, in a recent press release.
Of course, this vehicle isn’t the only one to target emerging businesses. The Ford Transit Connect, Nissan NV200 , and Ram ProMaster City also fit the bill for those looking to haul a moderate amount of cargo, although the U2 concept might be better sized for city driving.
The U2 Urban Utility Concept will make its official debut February 11 at the 2016 Canadian International Auto Show. Until then, try picturing this thing on the streets of Silicon Valley.
