Although the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R is offered as the track-focused companion to the “regular” Shelby GT350, some customers have asked the automaker for a back seat option for daily use. Ford Performance has answered their call with a new back seat retrofit kit for the Shelby GT350R.
The new back seat kit features the same Alcantara upholstery and red contrast stitching as the Shelby GT350R coupe’s front seats. Additionally, the package also includes the required occupant restraint systems, or three-point seatbelts.
“We always listen to customer feedback,” said Dave Pericak, global director of Ford Performance, in a release. “So when many requested a back seat for their GT350R, we acted quickly to make it available.”
Pricing for the back seat kit through Ford Performance Parts is set at $999 not including installation. The automaker recommends customers visit a Ford authorized dealer or service center to ensure proper installation for the seat and seat belts for optimal rear seat passenger safety.
Even with the available back seat kit installed, Ford says the Shelby GT350R remains the most track-ready, street-legal variant in the Mustang lineup.
