Alpina Automobiles has released a new teaser video of the new BMW 7 Series-based Alpina B7 sport sedan that is expected to debut at the 2016 Geneva auto show. A new video teases the Alpina B7, which may surpass the upcoming M760Li as the sportiest variant of the full-size BMW 7 Series sedan.
Like the last-generation Alpina B7, the new model will likely be powered by a modified version of the BMW 750i sedan’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine. Where the twin-turbo 4.4-liter engine made 445 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque in the last-generation 750i sedan, the engine was boosted to 540 hp and 538 lb-ft for Alpina B7 duty.
The redesigned twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 in the new 2016 BMW 750i makes 445 hp and 480 lb-ft. Some rumors suggest the new Alpina B7 could boast as much as 600 hp like the Euro-spec 2016 B6 Gran Coupe. An eight-speed automatic transmission backs the engine. As with the last-generation model, we expect the B7 to be offered in rear- or all-wheel-drive variants.
Other updates to the Alpina B7 over the standard 7 Series include subtle aerodynamic tweaks including front and rear spoilers and Alpina-specific wheels. Unique interior trim is also expected.
In our last comparison, we gave the nod to the Audi S8 with its 520 hp, 481 lb-ft 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8, eight-speed automatic, and Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
