Kia has teased its new large SUV concept again ahead of the 2016 Detroit auto show, and now we know the model’s name: Telluride. That name, shared with a ski resort town in a remote region of the Colorado Rockies, is somewhat fitting given that the concept is said to preview a “premium large SUV.” This time, the teaser image shows off the vehicle’s interior.
Kia says the Telluride concept features the company’s first use of 3D-printed components, used in the dashboard, door panels, and steering wheel. The cabin design is simple, using a digital screen in place of a traditional gauge cluster. The infotainment screen appears to be just as wide as the instrument display, and below it rests a simplified HVAC control panel and a stubby gear selector.
From what we know of the utility vehicle, the design will be on the boxy side with a squared off rear end. Whether it’s an actual SUV like the previous Borrego or simply a large crossover remains to be seen. We do know, however, the concept will showcase new “health-and-wellness technology.” Whatever that means.
Stay tuned to find out more about the Kia Telluride concept in Detroit next Monday.
