After showing the world three teaser photos on its official blog last week, Audi has released a new video that previews its newest crossover, the Q2. Slotting below the Q3, the Q2 will essentially be a competitor to the Mini Countryman and other subcompact crossovers. The new video shows a small, bright yellow crossover travelling on an unpaved road and ending with the hashtag #untaggable and the phrase “the new Q…” to hint at the newest member of the Audi crossover family.
Originally previewed by the Crosslane Coupe Concept that was revealed at the 2012 Paris auto show, the Audi Q2 will be much smaller in size than the smallest luxury crossovers available today. Last month, we reported that the 2017 Audi Q2 will debut at the 2016 Geneva auto show and that the new crossover is aimed at a younger audience. Additionally, the Q2 will be part of Audi’s crossover offensive and will distinguish itself with a less conservative exterior design.
Under the hood, the Q2 is expected to offer the same powertrain choices as the A3 compact car, which includes a 1.8-liter turbo-four and a 2.0-liter turbo-four in two states of tune. Like the A3, the Q2 will ride on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and is expected to come standard with front-wheel drive with all-wheel drive available as an option.
