2016 Chevrolet Cruze EPA-Rated Up to 35 MPG Combined

A 2016 Chevrolet Cruze can achieve up to 35 mpg combined depending on vehicle configuration. The fuel economy spread for the 2016 Cruze ranges from 22-30/35-41/27-35 mpg city/highway/combined.

The most fuel-efficient variant, the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze with the 1.4-liter turbo I-4 and six-speed automatic, is rated 30/42/35 mpg, while the same model with the six-speed manual is rated 29/41/33 mpg.

Surprisingly, the standard Cruze has a higher EPA rating than the Cruze Limited Eco. That model equipped with the same 1.4-liter turbo and automatic is rated 26/39/31 mpg, while the manual-equipped version is rated 28/42/33 mpg.

Only available with the 1.4-liter turbo and automatic, the top-spec 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Premier is rated 30/40/34 mpg, while the Cruze Limited with the 1.4-liter turbo is rated 26/38/30 regardless of transmission.

The lowest fuel economy rating in the 2016 lineup belongs to the Cruze Limited with the naturally aspirated 1.8-liter four-cylinder. That model is rated 22/35/27 mpg with the automatic and 25/36/29 mpg with the manual.

In comparison, the 2016 Honda Civic with the 1.5-liter turbo I-4 with CVT is rated 31/42/35 mpg, which slightly edges out the most fuel-efficient Cruze model by just 1 mpg city. The Civic’s base naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder is rated 31/41/35 mpg with the CVT and 27/40/31 mpg with the six-speed manual.
