2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet Teased in New Video

New drop-top is the latest addition to the C-Class family.

Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser video for the 2017 C-Class Cabriolet, which joins its sedan and coupe siblings this year. The short clip shows glimpses of the new drop-top driving through different road conditions with the roof down and in a wind tunnel for aerodynamic testing.

Perhaps the most significant detail is that the C-Class Cabriolet will feature a soft-top roof instead of a more complex retractable hardtop. Additionally, the car also features a retractable rear wind screen and Mercedes’ AirCap system, an air foil integrated into the windshield frame that deploys to keep wind draft at a minimum on the highway.

In addition to glimpses of the car’s soft top, power retractable wind blocker and AirCap system, the clip also shows a small glimpse of the C-Class cabriolet’s front fascia, which is similar to the C-Class Coupe. Details regarding what will power Mercedes’ new convertible are not yet known but it’s safe to expect the car to come standard with the new 2.0-liter turbo-four rated at 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque that’s shared with the GLC300, C300 sedan, the upcoming 2017 E-Class, and the SLC300. Expect either a seven- or nine-speed automatic transmission as the only gearbox choices. Like the rest of the C-Class family, the C-Class cabriolet should have a V-8-powered AMG variant as its range-topping model.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet will make its world debut on February 29 and is expected to greet the public for the first time at the 2016 Geneva auto show.
