cars news 10: Spied! Next-Gen Bentley Continental GT Wears EXP10 Face

Our spy photographers have recently caught the next-generation Bentley Continental GT testing on public roads, and sporting plenty of design cues from the EXP10 Speed 6 Concept that debuted at the 2015 Geneva auto show. The car’s front fascia stands out the most even with the plastic cladding because the headlights and the grille opening suggest that the car’s styling will be close to that of the EXP10 Speed 6 Concept.

Viewing the prototype from the side, its silhouette is much sleeker and makes the car look leaner and less substantial compared to the current model. Additionally, the side profile also takes cues from the EXP10 Speed 6 Concept, indicating that the next Continental GT will be heavily inspired by that vehicle, which may itself receive a production version of its own. Out back, the taillights seem similar to the ones found on the current Continental GT and feature two LED lamps within them. However, they are much sleeker and thinner. Even with all the plastic cladding, it’s obvious that the rear end of the next-generation Continental GT will be less bulbous. Furthermore, the car appears to be wider than the current-generation Continental GT.

The next-generation Bentley Continental GT will ride on a new modular platform called MSB, which will be shared with Porsche and used in the second-generation Panamera sedan. Bentley will also be able to integrate a hybrid powertrain in cars riding on the MSB platform. Expect the 2018 Bentley Continental GT to continue offering a range of eight- and 12-cylinder engines including a 4.0-liter V-8 and a W-12. Bentley is also rumored to bring plug-in hybrid technology to the Continental GT with help from Porsche.
