Tesla Partners With Radio Flyer to Offer Model S for Kids

For kids, big wheels, bikes, and skateboards have typically been the name of the game. If you had a Power Wheels, you were kind of a big deal on your block. But Radio Flyer and Tesla have just released something that brings the neighborhood one-upmanship to the ages-3-to-8 crowd.

Radio Flyer and Tesla have joined forces to produce a feature-laden, fully customizable Model S for Kids that reimagines the electric sedan on a kid scale. Just like with the real car, customers can choose the paint color, performance options, and personalize it. With working headlights, a front trunk, forward and reverse controls, and a sound system that hooks up to your smartphone or music player, this one-seater is as close to the real Model S as it gets.

The Model S for Kids is powered by a FlightSpeed lithium-ion battery to offer a long run time and fast charging time, which gives kids more time to enjoy behind the wheel. Radio Flyer notes that other child-sized vehicles run on lead-acid batteries, which can take a full day to charge. The Model S for Kids takes just three hours for a full charge, and the batteries can be swapped out faster than Tesla’s failed battery swap stations. The car comes with two speed settings. For beginners, there’s a speed cap of 3 mph, while the other setting goes up to 6 mph.

Kids will get the full Tesla ownership experience, as the Model S for Kids even comes with a Tesla car cover. Orders are being accepted now for the Model S for Kids, with deliveries expected to start in May.
