cars news 10: New Honda Ridgeline Confirmed for Detroit Auto Show Debut

After a few years of teasing the new truck, Honda will finally debut its second-generation Ridgeline at the Detroit auto show next month. Ahead of the reveal, the automaker released a teaser image that gives us our first clear image of the truck’s redesigned rear end.

Like we’ve seen in recent spy shots, the truck features a more conventional bed design than the last model. This will be the first time Honda has fully redesigned the Ridgeline since its debut for the 2006 model year.

The Ridgeline should receive a 3.5-liter V-6 engine lifted from the new 2016 Honda Pilot, rated at around 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. Also expect both six- and nine-speed automatic transmissions to make their way to the new model. A host of new convenience technologies will also debut.

Since late 2014, Honda has embarked on a complete makeover of its crossovers, introducing updated versions of the CR-V and Pilot as well as the all-new HR-V subcompact CUV. Sales of Honda utility vehicles have reached 599,507 through the first 11 months of the year as a result. After the Ridgeline debut, expect to see an all-new Odyssey later in 2016.

The Honda Ridgeline will make its official Detroit debut on January 11 at the 2016 Detroit auto show.
