President Obama will star in Jerry Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” The New York Times reports. Seinfeld normally takes other comedians to go pick up coffee in one of his classic cars for the web series, but the next episode will feature the commander-in-chief instead.
In this installment, Seinfeld and Obama take turns driving the stand-up comedian’s 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray split-window coupe. The duo takes a quick drive around the South Lawn at the White House. They then head to a basement dining room for coffee and conversation.
The upcoming episode with President Obama marks the beginning of the series’ seventh season. The White House told the newspaper that the conversation was “an opportunity to pull back the curtain for Americans on life in the White House.
“The president and Jerry had a unique, candid conversation that focused largely on the lighter side of the presidency.”
The episode begins with Seinfeld calling the president from just outside the White House.
“Growing up in the ‘60s my kid dream was always to be an astronaut — doing a comedy show with President Obama in and around the White House felt like going into space,” Seinfeld said in a release. “[Mr. Obama] was so easy and fun to be with,” Mr. Seinfeld said. “It was an unforgettable day.”
The episode will be released on December 30.
