A leak from BMW Germany’s configurator has confirmed the existence of the M760Li, which will be the range-topping variant of the 7 Series full-size luxury sedan. The leak was reported by BMW enthusiast site BimmerToday, which has taken screenshots of the upcoming M Performance model’s configurator. Slotting above the 750i, the M760Li should build upon its V-8-powered sibling, which we already found plenty to like about thanks to its performance and cutting-edge gadgetry.
Like previous 7 Series models wearing the 760 moniker, the BMW M760Li will come standard with a V-12 engine, and should be one of the most powerful variants in the lineup. Power figures and drivetrain configuration are still unknown, but expect the M760Li to have somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 hp. Unlike lesser 7 Series variants, expect the M760Li to come with some performance tweaks like other M Performance vehicles to differentiate it from the rest of the range.
An M7 was widely rumored to top off the 7 Series range. Former M Division engineering boss Albert Biermann expressed his desire for an M7, but perhaps this model represents the closest we’ll get. Despite not being a true M Division car, the M760Li will be the first 7 Series to wear an M badge.
Now that there’s proof that a V-12-powered 7 Series with an M Performance badge is on its way, do you think BMW still needs an M7 to top off its performance range? Or should they leave turning the 7 Series into an Autobahn cruise missile to Alpina? Share your thoughts below in the comments.
