Honda Civic Drives Off After Being Struck by a Train (W/Video)

The driver of a Honda Civic coupe that got stuck on a railroad track was able to drive the smashed vehicle away after being hit by a train. The incident, which happened in Orlando, Fla., was caught on video.

Two men can be seen getting out of the Civic after it gets stuck parallel to the railroad tracks. They wave their hands at the oncoming train before moving away from the vehicle a few moments before the car gets struck from behind. The train pushes the car for a ways down the tracks.

After the collision, the men were able to move the smashed Honda, park it, and then leave in another vehicle before Orlando Police arrived. Orlando police say they have identified one of the occupants, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The police didn’t say whether any charges would be made.

From the video, it appears that the driver had attempted to turn left from West Jefferson St. onto North Gertrude Ave., but instead turned onto the railroad tracks. The freight train operator said he saw the car on the tracks, but it was too late to stop, the newspaper reports.
