DeLorean With LS Swap Hits the Dyno (W/Video)

Usually, when someone does a GM LS V-8 swap, it’s in a Miata or similar longitudinal front-engine, rear-drive sports coupe. But a DeLorean DMC-12? That’s far less common. Nicholas Roedl, owner of the DeLorean featured in this video, swapped out the factory 2.8-liter PRV V-6 engine with a 5.7-liter V-8 engine out of a Corvette, which was seen on an episode of Velocity’s Car Fix.

Roedl has been the owner of his DeLorean for roughly 12 years, and in that time he has restored it fully but decided to do the engine swap for his senior thesis project at the University of Cincinnati. Aside from the much larger engine, Roedl added Lingenfelter heads and camshaft during the episode, to pair with the LS6 intake manifold and LS6 PCV system.

But how much power does this time machine make with the new engine? While doing tuning on the powerband after the Lingenfelter parts were installed, Roedl tested his DeLorean on the dyno to see just how much power it’s capable of. The team cycled through the gears, and got a pull in fourth gear. The result? Roedl’s DeLorean now produces 425 hp at the rear wheels.

Watch the video below to see the LS-swapped DeLorean in action on the dyno.
