Hyundai has released new sketches of the upcoming Ioniq compact car ahead of its January debut in Korea. Thanks to the new images, we now have a better idea of the Ioniq’s exterior body lines and its interior design.
While the styling of the new Ioniq doesn’t “scream” Hyundai, the model features the brand’s signature hexagonal grille. New “C-position” headlamps, special lighting, unique wheels, and its raked roofline set the model apart from the rest of the lineup visually. Meanwhile, the car’s paint job was specially designed to resemble fog that is just about to lift.
Inside the cabin, the Ioniq features a conventional yet simplified dashboard setup, with an infotainment system sandwiched between two air vents in the center console. The design looks quite a bit like the interior we saw on a prototype model earlier this month. According to Hyundai, the interior utilizes eco-friendly materials.
As we reported earlier, the Hyundai Ioniq will be offered in three variants: full electric, plug-in hybrid, or traditional hybrid. Hyundai promises the new model will focus on fun and efficiency, saying it will “deliver a fun and responsive driving experience, while also meeting the needs of those wishing to reduce the impact their motoring has on the environment.”
The compact car will make its global debut in Korea this upcoming January before heading to the Geneva and New York auto shows in March.
