The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Special Ops concept pickup shown at the 2015 SEMA show last month will go into limited production and be available in spring 2016.
Design for the Silverado Special Ops pickup is inspired by a rescue vehicle for special-operations forces, according to Chevrolet. The pickup is based on a 2016 Silverado 1500 Z71. Exterior features include a redesigned front end, a naval-inspired “Razzle Dazzle” three-tone blue camo paint job, and Ejector Orange interior accents.
The truck also sports genuine Chevrolet Accessories including black bowtie emblems, underbody shield, sport bar with off-road LED lights, wheel flares, 20-inch alloy wheels with off-road tires, custom rocker guards, a spray-in bedliner, and the automaker’s GearOn tiered storage system, utility rack package and cargo tie-down rings. Interior bits include embroidered headrests sporting the Special Ops logo, and waterproof seat covers and floor liners. Ejector Orange is used on the door pulls and glove box handle, while the instrument panel and armrests feature the Razzle Dazzle camo paint.
Chevrolet showed the special-edition Silverado Special Ops pickuup at the Army-Navy football game this past weekend. The automaker will donate a portion of the proceeds from each special pickup sold to benefit the National Navy SEAL Museum.
“The partnership will also help us aid the families of fallen, injured and active duty Navy SEALs through the efforts of our Trident House and scholarship programs,” said retired U.S. Navy SEAL Master Chief Rick Kaiser, executive director of the National Navy SEAL Museum.
