Aston Martin has set its sights on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS as it plans to build a race-focused Vantage. The model will have a limited production run of only 150 units with 40 of those slated for the U.K., reports Autocar.
Last year, Aston Martin revealed the Vantage GT12, which features lightweight elements including carbon fiber, titanium, and aluminum. The vehicle, which Aston Martin will reportedly name the GT8, will use the same elements to make it the lightest Vantage ever.
We don’t know what will be under the hood as performance details have yet to be revealed, but expect the new model to have a 0-60 mph time of around 4.5 seconds. That should make it quicker than the V8 Vantage S. The GT8 will likely feature a seven-speed manual transmission with an optional SSII automatic transmission.
Pricing will likely start around 170,000 pounds (or roughly $242,500 in today’s currency), but expect that number to skyrocket with optional features, as seen with the Vantage GT12. Right now, Aston has sent invitations and early sketches of the Vantage GT8 to potential buyers, and the car is expected to make a full reveal later this week. Stay tuned.
