During Auto China 2016 in Beijing, the next generation of the Audi A4 L debuted for the Chinese market. The new A4 L will offer more space, with a total length of 15.8 feet. The wheelbase increases by 1.6 inches over the last-gen stretched A4, while cargo space is now 17.0 cubic feet. The wheelbase is 3.6 inches longer than a standard 2017 Audi A4, and overall length is nearly 3 inches longer. Despite the larger dimensions, the Audi A4 L weighs 242.5 pounds less than the Chinese-market model it replaces.
The exterior will feature a consistently horizontal line to emphasize the car’s width, while the gloss package adds chrome strips to the Singleframe radiator grille, window surrounds, and side sills. The new A4 L will also feature Matrix LED technology with dynamic turn signals, with standard xenon plus headlights.
The Audi A4 L benefits from many of the same updates made to the standard A4, including a head-up display that shows relevant vehicle information. The available Audi virtual cockpit will feature a 12.3-inch screen that displays high-res graphics and effects. Controlled with buttons found on the steering wheel, the driver can choose between different display modes, either the classic view, or the infotainment view with navigation map.
The Audi A4 L will be powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI engine, producing either 188 hp or 248 hp. The newly developed 190-hp engine uses a new combustion process, and both engine variants will be paired with a seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission. Customers in China will have the option of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
