A Honda Odyssey prototype has been spotted again, but this time around the minivan was caught in Columbus, Ohio, near the automaker’s facilities in Marysville. We previously caught a prototype roaming around Southern California, but these latest photos are a tad more revealing and hint at what could be a significant styling overhaul.
For starters, the taillights appear to include an integrated accent trim piece with a more angled shape similar to the Honda Pilot crossover. The front fascia will also be redone, likely to borrow styling cues from the Pilot and recently revealed Ridgeline truck.
Another significant change includes a revised beltline that could do away with the current model’s “lightning bolt” look. In its place could be a cleaner profile, with the sliding door’s track integrated under the window.
Powertrain upgrades are also a possibility. The current model features a 248-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 mated to a six-speed automatic. The Pilot, however, now features a 3.5-liter V-6 with direct injection making 280 hp. The automaker’s nine-speed automatic could also be included in the update, and rumors suggest a hybrid powertrain will be available.
The updated Odyssey could bow as soon as late this year, ready to compete with the new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and still relatively new Kia Sedona.
