Chevrolet Cruze Gets Reimagined for the World of TRON in Beijing

At Auto China 2016 in Beijing, Chevrolet has unveiled a special Cruze sedan inspired by the 2011 Disney film “TRON: Legacy.” As you’d expect, the car comes complete with bright neon blue lights accents both inside and out.

But why partner with Disney to promote a film that came out five years ago? The entertainment giant is opening a new Disneyland theme park in Shanghai later this year, and it’ll feature an attraction inspired by the TRON saga. That ride will be sponsored by Chevrolet, just like the recently revamped Test Track ride in Walt Disney World. Chevrolet developed the special Cruze, which features glowing character lines and blue-outlined grille frames, in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company China. The blue lines that span the car’s profile are created using a special metallic paint to lend it a futuristic look.

The interior features the “dual-cockpit” layout of the standard 2016 Cruze, but gains blue accent lines on the seats, steering wheel, and center console, along with Ice Blue ambient lighting throughout the cabin. You may not feel like you’re piloting a TRON Lightcycle, but the movie’s aesthetic definitely comes through behind the wheel.

It’s unclear if the car previews a special model that will be sold in China, but with the Shanghai Disney Resort set to open on June 16, along with the TRON Lightcycle Powerrun ride, a TRON special edition wouldn’t surprise us.
