Ford Offers Stealth Light Bar for Police Interceptor Utility

A new stealth light bar is now available for the Ford Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility. With no need for a roof-mounted light bar, the new option will make a Ford Police Interceptor Utility harder to recognize.

“Today, agencies typically use aftermarket interior visor light bars that are somewhat bulky and can obstruct the field of vision – especially for taller officers,” said Stephen Tyler, Ford police marketing manager, in a release. “This extremely low-profile unit is fully integrated where the headliner and top of the windshield meet, for tremendously improved driver visibility versus aftermarket alternatives.”

The new factory-installed stealth light bar option is integrated into the top of the windshield and is said to be less intrusive than bulky visor-mounted light bars currently available. It also eliminates the dark shade band at the top of the windshield, which is said to improve officer visibility.

The light bar can be programmed to alternate red and blue, red/red or blue/blue. Additionally, the light bar features bright-white lights, which can be used for “take down” and “scene” functions. The lighting is adjustable from 20 percent to full intensity and also boasts an auto-dimming feature.
