The updates for the 2017 Shelby GT350 Mustang and Shelby GT350R from a leaked document posted on mustang6g.com in February have been confirmed by Ford Performance. In addition to revised standard equipment and option packages, the track-focused models get new paint color choices – shown in these new images.
New paint color options for the 2017 Shelby GT350 and 2017 Shelby GT350R include Ruby Red Metallic, Lightning Blue, and Grabber Blue. The new colors replace Deep Impact Blue and Competition Orange on the Shelbys’ paint palette. Lightning Blue with the black racing stripes and thin red strips reminds us of the special paint used on the Ford GT, 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, and Shelby GT350R concepts from the 2015 Detroit auto show.
“Ford Performance is always listening to customer feedback,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance, in a release. “At the end of last year we started offering a back seat option for Shelby GT350R due to customer demand. Now, we have adjusted the packages available to continue to provide more of what customers want on the Shelby GT350 Mustang.”
The previously optional Track Package is now standard on the Shelby GT350 (already standard on the Shelby GT350R) and includes an aluminum tower-to-tower brace, high-downforce decklid spoiler, adjustable MagneRide damping system, and oil coolers for the engine, transmission, and differential.
For 2017, the Shelby GT350 is also available with a choice of an Electronics Package or Convenience Package. The Electronics Package includes SYNC 3, voice-activated navigation, and nine-speaker audio system, while the Convenience Package includes all of the equipment from the Electronics Package as well as leather-trimmed power sport seats in place of the standard manual Recaro seats.
Additionally, the Shelby GT350R R-Electronics Package includes a nine-speaker audio system, rearview camera, auxiliary gauges, floor mats, and tire inflator and sealant kit.
