The 2016 Infiniti QX60 has earned a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The midsize crossover nabbed “Good” scores in five crash categories, including the difficult small overlap test. It also earned a “Superior” rating in front crash prevention, thanks to the model’s optional forward emergency braking and forward collision warning systems. In IIHS tests, the QX60 was able to prevent a crash while traveling at speeds of 12 mph and 25 mph.
For 2015, the Infiniti QX60 earned a Top Safety Pick rating without the “+” designation. While it scored top marks in all crash tests, it scored just “Basic” in front crash prevention. Although the model offered intelligent brake assist technology, IIHS determined the vehicle is unable to significantly slow itself down in an impending crash.
Refreshed for the new model year, the 2016 Infiniti QX60 starts at $43,595 and is now on sale. Buyers can opt for the Deluxe Technology Package, priced at $6,900, to receive forward collision warning as well as forward emergency braking and a host of other safety technologies like intelligent cruise control, backup collision intervention, blind spot warning, and a front and rear sonar system.
