Back in 2014, Skoda unveiled a new design language with the VisionC concept, and as the brand focuses its attention on the SUV market, it’s set to debut the VisionS at the 2016 Geneva motor show. The new SUV concept will be larger than the Yeti, with three rows of seating.
Skoda, a Czech brand owned by VW Group, believes the new design has plenty of emotional appeal with clean, sharp lines and a sculpted body. Crystalline design elements, along with lights and shadows help to accentuate the new design language, showing off what this design study could mean for the future of Skoda SUVs.
The front end, which relies on plastics and more crystalline elements, pays homage to the Czech art of crystal-glass design, while keeping a rugged SUV appearance. The grille is wide with four tapered LED headlights flowing from the sides, with strong character lines flowing from the aggressive grille to contour the body of the concept.
At the rear, the design keeps the same minimalistic approach from the front, with sharp, vertical taillights with crystalline housings, a reflective strip running the width of the rear bumper, and the traditional Skoda C-graphic that begins at the rear lights and runs into the reflectors.
It’s possible that this vehicle is related to another VW Group seven-seater that’s coming to the U.S. As we previously reported, Volkswagen plans to build a large three-row crossover at its Chattanooga plant in Tennessee. The as-yet unnamed crossover is said to be based on the Volkswagen CrossBlue concept, which bears a passing resemblance to the VisionS.
