For the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Citroen teamed up with French pop group “Hyphen Hyphen” to create the SpaceTourer Hyphen concept. The new concept pumps up the look and feel of the current production model, in the hope that it will inspire consumers to travel.
The design of the SpaceTourer Hyphen concept offers the personality of an SUV with a broad front bumper, wheel arch trims and sill protectors reminiscent of the Aircross concept, all of which are finished in a matte Dark Moondust color with red-orange accents. Riding higher than the production model, the concept sits on 19-inch diamond-cut matte black alloy wheels with red-orange details.
Inside, bold colors stand out, as each seat has been given its own color scheme. The seats are finished in sea-green Nappa leather with contrasting top stitching, the roof lining and dashboard are wrapped with a special fabric to complement the interior color scheme, and the floor mats are made from a rich, soft wool.
“Citroen has always known how to innovate, to be a pioneer and to spot talent. After meeting Hyphen Hyphen, the idea for a partnership came about naturally. This vibrant, offbeat group has a real graphic and musical signature. This may be a communication campaign, but one that comes straight from the heart! It’s also a way for us to pool our values of optimism, sharing and creativity,” said Arnaud Belloni, Director of Marketing and Communication at Citroen.
The Citroen SpaceTourer Hyphen concept will be powered by a BlueHDi 150 S&S diesel engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission, and feature on-demand four-wheel drive. The concept will feature off-road capabilities thanks to the all-terrain option that delivers better traction when grip is reduced, along with a higher ground clearance. The 4×4 transmission was developed in collaboration with Automobiles Dangel and doesn’t compromise the production SpaceTourer’s comfort or safety.
