cars news 10: BMW Celebrates Centennial With Limited-Edition 7 Series

To celebrate its centennial, BMW will bring out an extremely limited 7 Series line. Of the 100 special cars that BMW will produce, only five will be available in the U.S.

The model available on our shores was christened with an extremely long name: the BMW Individual M760i xDrive Model V12 Excellence The Next 100 Years. But it only features a few key changes over the traditional 7 Series.

On the exterior, it gets an exclusive Centennial Blue metallic paint job and specially designed 20-inch BMW Individual alloy wheels. Inside, you’ll find a special Montblac fountain pen, piano black trim, and upholstery done up in Merino Leather. BMW has also placed unique badging throughout the car’s exterior and interior to give it a unique feel.

Under the hood sits a 6.6-liter V-12 engine with an estimated 610 hp. If BMW’s preliminary estimates are correct, that would make it more powerful than the stock 2017 BMW M760i xDrive’s 591 hp. BMW estimates a 0-60 run of just 3.6 seconds in the centennial model.

BMW will make its centennial model available by the end of 2016. The automaker didn’t give out pricing information, but we’d expect it to cost a pretty penny.

The automaker has also brought out another car to celebrate its centennial: the Vision Next 100 concept. The concept features autonomous driving tech and flexible body panels.
