Parallel parking can be a challenge in normal driving circumstances, but when you’re attempting to do it with only centimeters to spare and in reverse, that’s another level of difficulty. In celebration of Guinness World Records Day 2015, Alastair Moffatt, a stunt driver for Stunt Drive UK decided to take on the tightest reverse parallel park record.
Moffatt has set previous records for his parallel parking skills, but in 2014, the record for Tightest Parallel Park was broken by Han Yue from China, who managed to do it in 8.6 seconds. Moffatt has since broken that record with 7.5 cm to spare.
Now, Moffatt tackles the record from a different angle. He made his attempt in Brooklands, U.K., the home of British motorsport and aviation. The record that the stunt man was hoping to break was 35 cm. Not surprisingly, he managed to beat the previous record by a slim 1 cm.
“I am so thrilled that I was able to achieve a Guinness World Records title today–especially on Guinness World Records Day, it doesn’t get much better than that. A lot of planning, dedication, and, of course, parking went in to today’s successful record attempt,” said Moffatt in a statement.
