During the U.S. debut of the Alfa Romeo Giulia, pricing was announced for the midsize sport sedan and its top-of-the-line Quadrifoglio model. The new sedan will come with a starting price of $40,000, with the high-performance Quadrifoglio variant starting at $70,000.
We previously said that the Quadrifoglio would be based on the new “Giorgio” architecture and be powered by a Ferrari-derived 2.9-liter bi-turbo V-6 engine. The U.S.-spec model will deliver 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, and will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission. According to the Italian automaker, the Giulia Quadrifoglio will go from 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 191 mph.
The new sport sedan achieves a “near perfect 50/50 weight distribution,” along with class-leading power-to-weight ratio, thanks to a carbon fiber hood, roof, drive shaft, active aero front splitter, and rear spoiler. Weight savings come in the form of aluminum front and rear subframes, front shock towers, brakes, suspension components, doors, and fenders. For precise steering, the Giulia Quadrifoglio features a double-wishbone front suspension with semi-virtual steering axis, along with an Alfa-link rear axle design with vertical rod for better performance and comfort.
Expect to pay “around $70,000” for the top-of-the-line Giulia model when it eventually reaches the U.S. However, the base model will come with a starting price around $40,000. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio will enter production in late 2016 as a 2017 model, but with the launch delays, we don’t expect to see the newest addition to Alfa’s lineup until early 2017. T
