2016 Chevrolet Cruze Priced Starting at $17,495

The Chevrolet Cruze is all new for the 2016 model year, with a larger yet lighter body and improved fuel efficiency over the 2015 model, according to GM. Chevrolet has announced that pricing will start at $17,495 including the $875 destination charge for the base model, a $450 increase over the outgoing model.

Available in four models, the L, LS, LT, and Premier, the new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze will be powered by an all-new direct-injected 1.4-liter turbocharged I-4 engine estimated to deliver 153 hp. The engine will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission on the L base model, while the LS will offer the six-speed manual for $18,995 or a six-speed auto for $1,000 more. The LT ($21,995) and Premier ($23,995) models will come exclusively with the six-speed automatic transmission.

EPA-estimated fuel economy figures have yet to be announced, but GM estimates that the 2016 Cruze LS with the automatic will get 40 mpg highway, up 5 mpg from the 2015 model. Standard features include Chevrolet MyLink radio with a 7-inch diagonal infotainment screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi, and a rearview camera.

Chevrolet will offer a host of driver safety features, including side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, and forward collision warning. The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze will go on sale early 2016.
