Subaru Impreza Sedan Concept Shows Off Sleek Body in L.A.

The Subaru Impreza sedan concept, which debuted at the L.A. auto show today, features a sleek new look that previews the automaker’s future design language and its next-gen compact sedan.

The concept model points to a more rounded front end and softer grille on the new Impreza. Fewer chrome accents surround the hexagonal shaped grille, which has been reshaped for a more subtle appearance. Blue lighting, sharper headlights, gloss-black accents, and a bold character line near the side windows complement the car’s sultry Ruby Red Metallic paint job. At back, look for a spoiler and taillights that extend far into the trunk.

Subaru made the concept a hair shorter yet considerably wider than the current 2016 Impreza. While it’s only about an inch shorter in length, the concept is a full 5.5 inches wider. It also features a slightly wider wheelbase at 105.1 inches, compared to the old model’s 104.1 inches. While the dimensions can change for production, we wouldn’t be surprised if the new model was considerably wider than its predecessor.

We also recently saw the Impreza 5-Door concept debut at the Tokyo motor show last month. Check out the photos to see the similarities between the two models. However, it’s unlikely that some of the bolder design elements will make their way into production.
