The Pagani Zonda Revolucion has set a Nürburgring lap record of 6 minutes and 30 seconds, according to multiple internet sources. If true, the new time breaks the Pagani Zonda R’s previous (unofficial) record of 6:47.50 set by racing driver Marc Basseng in 2010.
Based on the Zonda R, the Zonda Revolucion gets more power and revised aerodynamics. The rear mid-mounted Mercedes-AMG-derived 6.0-liter V-12 makes 800-hp and 538 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed sequential transmission sends power to the rear wheels. Thanks to a carbon fiber and titanium monocoque, the Zonda Revolucion is said to weigh in at just below 2,400 pounds.
Additional upgrades from the Zonda R include lighter CCMR carbon-ceramic brakes that offer better heat dissipation, an automatic and manually adjustable Formula 1-inspired Drag Reduction System rear wing, and redesigned front and rear carbon fiber spoilers. Cosmetic changes include a central red stripe as well as red, white, and yellow accents.
The Zonda Revolucion’s upgrades take away the car’s street-legal status in most markets. At a price of 2.2 million euros (approximately $2.36 million), production of the Pagani Zonda Revolucion was limited to just five examples. Given that, the time wouldn’t be in contention for the production car lap record. That distinction is still held by the Porsche 918 Spyder at 6:57.
Like the Zonda R’s previous ‘Ring record, the Zonda Revolucion’s lap record is unofficial. No information regarding driver, weather conditions, or day the lap was set has been revealed. The lap record would also likely have been affected by the Nürburgring’s recent speed limit restriction as well as track maintenance.
What do you think of the Pagani Zonda Revolucion’s unofficial track record claim?
