Next week at the 2015 Los Angeles auto show, Jeep will show off two new special-edition models, the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night and the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry. The Grand Cherokee special edition will go on sale early next year, while the Wrangler special edition will hit showroom floors later this month.
“Jeep enthusiasts anticipate and truly appreciate special-edition models that deliver a customized Jeep SUV right from the factory,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand, FCA Global, in a release. “The Grand Cherokee SRT Night and Wrangler Backcountry both offer a distinctive appearance, while delivering an array of prominent performance and capability features.”
The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night will feature a gloss black roof, rear spoiler, front grille bezels, B and C pillars, and side window surrounds, while the front applique and badging on the hood and rear will be finished in satin black. The special edition will sit on split five-spoke 5Ten 20-inch satin black wheels to show off the Brembo brakes. The interior will continue the blacked-out theme with Black Laguna leather with silver accent stitching. Interior bezels will be finished in Light Black Chrome.
The Grand Cherokee special edition will be powered by the standard 6.4-liter V-8 engine, pumping out 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, giving the model a Jeep-estimated 0-60 mph time of 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph. Customers can opt for a dual-pane sunroof, 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, trailer tow package, three-season tires, full-size spare, and a rear entertainment system.
The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry’s appearance stresses its winter capabilities with a unique, off-road-inspired front end and powder-coated rear bumper, 17-inch Rubicon wheels painted in Mid-gloss Black, and a black fuel fill door. As the model is based off the Wrangler Sahara, it will offer Sahara side steps. Standard on the special edition are Wrangler Rubicon rock rails and a black hard top, though a body-color hard top is available. Backcountry decals have been placed on the front fender and rear quarter panel.
Inside, the special edition features Piano Black vent rings, door handles, and grab handles. The seats are wrapped in black McKinley leather with black sport mesh inserts, while the console and door armrests are wrapped in vinyl with Diesel Gray accent stitching. The Wrangler Backcountry will also feature a nine-speaker Alpine sound system and all-weather slush mats.
