The Porsche 911 range offers a little something for every sports car shopper. You’ve got the 911 Turbo for the buyer who wants an unnecessarily fast grand tourer, the 911 R for the Porsche purist, and the 911 Targa for the nostalgic Porsche fan who wants an open-air driving experience and a unique retro look. Porsche Exclusive has just made that look even more retro with the Exclusive Design Edition, which resurrects a color made famous in the 1960s by the Porsche 356.
The Porsche 911 Targa 4S Exclusive Design Edition is a special model that the Stuttgart-based automaker says will only be available for “a short time.” Porsche confirmed to us that the model will indeed be available in the U.S. The car is painted Etna Blue, the standard color of the 1960-1961 Porsche 356 B, and sports white gold metallic accents with a satin finish. The front spoiler, headlight washer covers, rear badges, and the “Targa” lettering on the roll bar are painted body color, while the LED headlight housings are painted black to contrast with the rest of the car’s light blue color. The roll bar, side graphics, and 20-inch RS Spyder wheels are finished in white gold metallic.
Inside, the Targa 4S Exclusive Design Edition features black anodized stainless steel kick plates with the model name emblazoned in Etna Blue. The interior is upholstered in graphite blue leather, including the 18-way adjustable adaptive sports seats with headrests embossed with the Porsche logo. Embossed on the center armrest is a 911 Targa silhouette. Provence blue is used on the seat stitching, HVAC vents, and floor mats. Each Targa 4S Exclusive Design Edition comes with an indoor car cover and a VIN-stamped, graphite blue leather-bound photo album filled with pictures documenting the car’s build process.
The special models are powered by the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six engine that comes on the standard 2017 Porsche 911 Targa 4S, which makes 420 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque. They also feature all-wheel drive and a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission as standard. The special-edition Targa makes its debut at the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix vintage race at the Nürburgring this weekend.
