Techrules Enlists Design Help From Giugiaro for GT96 Hypercar

You’d be forgiven if you’ve already forgotten about the Techrules GT96 hypercar concept that debuted at this year’s Geneva auto show. Super and hypercar builders disappear as often as they pop up, but Techrules is apparently looking to break that cycle. According to a report from Automotive News, the Chinese firm behind the car just nabbed Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro, two of the biggest names in the design world.

First, let’s take a gander at the GT96 from Geneva. Techrules claimed some seriously unbelievable figures, including a 1,030-hp power figure. This stupendous thrust reportedly comes from a tiny turbine engine mated to an electric drive system, similar to the drivetrain that powered the alluring Jaguar C-X75 concept. Techrules claims the GT96 will travel over 1,200 miles per fill-up, and will hit 60 mph in a scant 2.5 seconds.

To bring this sci-fi powertrain to life, the Chinese company also recruited engineering firm L.M. Gianetti. Gianetti was historically known for work on Fiats, Alfa Romeos, and Abarths. According to Automotive News, Gianetti’s facilities are capable of producing small-batch production.
