Watch a Trophy Truck Fly 379 Feet to Set a World Record

Off-road champion Bryce Menzies just earned himself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records by launching a truck 379.4 feet in the air over a New Mexico ghost town. The feat breaks the official Guinness record of 301 feet, and an unofficial record of 332 feet set by Tanner Foust back in 2011.

His crew at Red Bull and Pennzoil had spent the last six months preparing for the epic jump. After a few days of testing out the ramps, Menzies broke the distance world record in his Pro2 truck. Unfortunately, before he was scheduled to repeat the record one more time for live TV, the truck crashed and the show had to be cancelled. Although he was taken to the hospital for a broken shoulder, he’s happy with the way things turned out overall.

“This has been my dream and to see it come to life was surreal — it was one of the greatest moments of my life,” he told the Red Bull team. “I’m so glad I did it. I came away with a broken shoulder, that’s not bad at all, and I’m just glad I’m in the record books.”

Menzies recently won the 2015 and 2016 Red Bull Frozen Rush events. He is also a three-time SCORE Baja 500 champion, and a three-time winner in the TORC Pro2 competition. Watch the video below to witness the truck jump.
