Tesla is now offering a two-year lease option on the Model S and Model X. Customers have until September 12 to take advantage of the offer, reports Electrek.
Under the deal, drivers can lease a Model S for as little as $593 a month. That figure assumes you’re leasing a base Tesla Model S 60 and agree to a pretty significant down payment of $6,000.
Tesla says its customers requested the automaker offer a shorter lease program, according to the report. The new option could prove especially attractive to those who were waiting on the Tesla Model 3, which heads into production in late 2017. Those placing an order for a Model 3 right now can expect to wait two years for the car. If you’re not convinced Tesla will stay on its timeline, there’s still the option of a traditional 36-month lease.
As we wait for the Model 3, Tesla recently moved to make the Model S more affordable by reintroducing a 60 kilowatt-hour battery option. For buyers, prices start at $66,000 for the model that delivers an estimated 210 miles of range. In base form, the Model X starts at around $74,000 and also uses a 60-kWh battery. Range on this version of the Model X is an estimated 200 miles.
