We first saw the Volkswagen #PinkBeetle at the 2015 New York auto show as a concept, but now the company has announced that it will enter a limited production run for the 2017 model year. The limited-edition #PinkBeetle will go on sale this fall, and pricing will be announced closer to its sale date. Yes, the hashtag is part of its actual name.
Customers will be able to choose between coupe and convertible body styles, and power will come exclusively from a 1.8-liter turbocharged direct-injection TSI engine that will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The namesake Fresh Fuchsia Metallic exterior color stands out against gloss-black mirror caps and back running boards, and is accented by Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights. LED taillights and LED license plate lighting illuminate the rear. The coupe and convertible models are differentiated by their tires and wheel designs. The coupe features 17-inch multi-spoke Linas aluminum-alloy wheels, while the convertible sits on 18-inch five-spoke wheels with a Twister design.
Inside, the interior features pink accents, a black dashboard, leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, and Pink Club cloth seats. The 2017 Volkswagen #PinkBeetle will feature the automaker’s MIB II infotainment system with a 6.3-inch screen with a capacitive touch sensor for gesture controls like pinch-zooming and swiping. The #PinkBeetle will also offer the VW Car-Net App-Connect suite, which works with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink.
