cars news 10: Lamborghini Centenario Goes for a Drive on Public Roads (W/Video)

Just a week or so after the Lamborghini Centenario made its official U.S. debut at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, Calif., the car has been caught on camera driving out of the automaker’s facility in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.

The 2-minute video posted on YouTube shows the ultra-rare supercar approaching the gate and driving on public roads around Lamborghini’s hometown. Immediately, you’ll notice a group of photographers taking photos of the car as the person behind the camera records it driving by. Just like any Lamborghini, the Centenario ‘s naturally aspirated V-12 engine makes beautiful yet violent sounds as it accelerates away. Upon its return back to home base, you can hear all kinds of snaps, crackles, and pops as it slows down and enters the factory. You can also see the unique rear LED strips that serves as the car’s taillights and its retractable wing in action, both of which distinguish the Centenario from other Lamborghini models.

Loosely based on the Aventador, the Centenario will be powered by a 759-hp 6.5-liter V-12, the most powerful engine Lamborghini has produced to date. Only 40 units will be made, with 20 allocated as coupes and the other 20 as roadsters.

Given how rare this car is, this video may be the closest you’ll get to seeing one in the real world. Watch the Centenario go for a spin in the video below.
