This summer, the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo will go on sale in Europe, showing off a sportier exterior, updated engine options, and a new infotainment user interface. BMW has also added upgraded materials and accents to the interior to up the lux factor of the odd 3 Series hatch variant.
The 2017 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is nearly 190 inches in length, and now offers new, standard LED headlights and foglamps. Sharper character lines add to the overall sportier appearance, drawing the eye from the updated front design to the coupe-like dimensions in the rear.
The interior receives the same attention, and is now outfitted with extra chrome around the interior controls, gains new decorative wood elements and colors, and has available leather trim options. Just as before, the seating position is raised by just over 2 inches from the standard 3 Series for improved visibility, while the wheelbase is roughly 4 inches longer, offering better rear legroom.
Though the model is offered with a range of small gas and diesel engines in Europe, you can likely expect the turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 and 3.0-liter I-6 gas engines currently offered in the U.S. market to remain the only options. But if the Euro-spec model is any indication, we could get the updated 3.0-liter found in the 2016 340i, which makes 320 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. BMW will offer classic rear-wheel drive in Europe, but xDrive all-wheel drive will probably continue to be standard in the U.S.
BMW will offer the new 3 Series Gran Turismo in three variants, the Sport Line, Luxury Line, and M Sport. The high-performance M Sport model will feature an exclusive Estoril Blue exterior color, while all models will feature standard keyless entry and ignition, high-resolution color display with iDrive Controller for hands-free calls, Bluetooth audio streaming, and a leather multifunction steering wheel. Two new metallic exterior colors, three new wheel rim designs, and additional seat finishes and interior trim strips are optional, adding to the customization options.
