If it’s automotive extravagance you desire, the experts at Rolls-Royce have you completely covered. The German-owned automaker forged a name for itself creating some of the most expensive and excessive cars in existence. Rolls is currently in the process of cleaning house, with updated and redesigned models on the horizon. The redesigned Phantom arrives in 2018 with a new aluminum-intensive architecture, but as of yet, there are no plans for the Phantom Coupe or Drophead Coupe on the table. To send the Coupe and Drophead Coupe off in a style befitting the brand, Rolls revealed the special Phantom Zenith Collection.
As expected, these roadgoing luxury yachts pack bespoke features that are sure to be appreciated by its moneyed clientele. Open the trunk, and you will find Rolls fitted the Zenith Collection with a split-folding tailgate, for those intrepid owners who take their $500,000 cars on a countryside picnic. Better yet, each Zenith comes with an integrated glass shelf in the trunk area for those essential champagne sessions, along with the hardware to boot, including a large champagne fridge for two full-sized bottles and eight “Rolls-Royce” glasses for the chilled bubbly. For those who might like to use the tailgate as a glorified couch, don’t worry, Rolls assures us that it is upholstered in “the finest padded leathers.”
On the inside, each car is fitted with little touches to separate these valued and discerning customers away from the unwashed masses of regular Phantom buyers. Each endcap of the door armrests feature a laser-etched map of the locations of the Coupe and the Drophead concept debuts in Lake Como and Lake Geneva.
In the center console, the lucky buyer finds a “priceless memento” that comes only with cars from the Zenith Collection, and is not “attainable by any other means.” Apparently, inside the aluminum case is a certified piece of the Phantom’s assembly line, with information on what portion of the factory it comes from.
Scattered around the cabin are features we have seen on past Coupes and Dropheads, including the fantastically superfluous Starlight headliner. On the outside, Rolls ensured each Zenith is done-up in a historical color scheme.
If all this exclusivity and excess has you reaching for your checkbook, we’ve got some bad news. Rolls-Royce says all 50 of the Zenith Collection cars have already been spoken for. You will have to make do with a regular Coupe or Drophead.
