VW T3 Doka Truck Owned by Porsche 911 Designer Heads to Auction

This mint 1989 Volkswagen T3 Doka is headed to auction and is estimated to fetch close to $90,000. That is indeed a high price for VW’s workhorse truck, but this one is special because it belonged to Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the iconic designer who penned the original Porsche 911 and grandson to Porsche founder Ferdinand Porsche.

According to Silverstone Auctions, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, who was often referred to as F.A., purchased the truck to use at his Porsche Design studio and family estate, both located in Zell am See, Austria. He passed away on April 5, 2012, but a Porsche race driver and friend of the family purchased the truck in 2014. The truck was in fairly rough shape, but the new owner spent over 700 hours restoring it to its current pristine condition. The odometer currently shows 141,000 kilometers and the sale will include papers showing F.A. as the original owner.

Silverstone Auctions is rolling this truck onto the block on May 28 at its Classic Race Aarhus Auction in Denmark, where it’s estimated to sell for  between $67,300 and $89,800.
