Hear the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept Rev Its Engine (W/Video)

A new video has surfaced showing the exotic-looking Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept revving its engine at the 2016 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Is that a choir of angels you’re hearing? Nope, just 16 cylinders firing in rapid, angry succession.

In the video, the car is filmed upon start-up, at idle, and with a few blips of the throttle as it’s loaded onto a trailer. The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo concept was designed for the video game Gran Turismo 6 on Playstation 3, but it also previewed the upcoming Bugatti Chiron, which replaces the Veyron as the automaker’s sole hypercar. No drivetrain specs were given for the concept, but the new Chiron is powered by a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W-16 engine making 1,500 hp and 1,165 lb-ft of torque. The discontinued Veyron made 1,000 hp, while the Veyron Super Sport made 1,200 hp.

Like its predecessor, the new car routes power to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Top speed is electronically limited to 261 mph. Though the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo concept boasts wild aero parts like a large rear wing and central fin, it isn’t far off from the production Chiron’s fundamental design. Even though we don’t get to see the concept doing race car things, at least we can drool over the race car sounds it makes.
