Mamma mia! It looks like the Italian military police’s vehicle fleet just got more interesting with the delivery of an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. Powered by a fire-breathing 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 with 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, the Giulia Quadrifoglio should make for a perfect rapid response vehicle in Milan and Rome.
Customizations made to the car include an LED light bar on top of the car and an interior specially made with places to store essential police equipment such as radios, defibrillators, firearms, and even a tablet on the passenger’s side. According to Auto Express, the Giulia Quadrifoglio won’t be used for traffic duties in the city. Instead, they’ll be utilized for high-importance jobs including escorting VIPs and transporting organs, meaning the Carabinieri will take advantage of the car’s performance, style and 190-mph top speed.
The car came as part of an agreement between FCA and the Carabinieri in which the automaker will provide the force with around 800 new vehicles throughout 2016. In addition to the Giulia, FCA will also supply the Carabinieri with Alfa Romeo Giuliettas, Jeep Renegades, and Fiat Panda 4x4s.
This isn’t the first time a police force has received a high performance vehicle. In Dubai, law enforcement have received Audi R8s, various Lamborghinis, and even a Bugatti Veyron.
